Lonely Without Phoenix
Lonely Without Phoenix
We moved to Fishers, Indiana in 2004 after having lived in Florida for 20 years. That first winter was a tough one. My only son was attending college in Tampa, Florida, and my husband was traveling a lot for his job. I was terribly lonely.
Knowing I wouldn’t make it another winter without something new in my life to occupy my time and my mind, I happened on a dog rescue website and was looking at the dogs listed. Then, I saw her beautiful face! Her name was Phoenix and she’d been given up by the family who’d had her since she was a puppy. I knew this was the solution to my loneliness, so I contacted the rescue organization.
After several weeks, one home assessment visit and a visit from Phoenix and her foster mom, she was finally ours!
Six and one-half years later, Phoenix and I are growing old together. She is the love of our lives!
What an inspiring story, “companion” animals are such a blessing from the Lord to us humans!
Brooke:
I recently went through a “rough patch”, in my life, and I too needed a companion. After moving into my new residence, I began searching for a minature poodle. Last October, I found my pal, Cisco, at the Southside Animal Shelter. He came with very little information. He is about 2 1/2 years old, and is house trained. We couldn’t be a better match, he is with me at all times, and very loving. I have been blessed!
