Noah’s Story
Noah’s Story
Noah is an eleven-month-old purebred Great Dane, brindle in color, with beautiful eyes that are hard to resist. Looking into his gentle eyes, one would hardly suspect the tragic circumstances under which he came into the Forever Friends Great Dane Rescue. In September 2010, FFGDR received a call from a shelter in Northern Indiana with information that, in need of rescue were three Great Danes from an abandoned home.
Noah, Charlie, Molly and six other pets, were deserted by their owners with no food and very little water, fighting to surviveon what little they had, for at least a month. Upon rescue, Noah was infested with fleas, on the brink of death from starvation and suffering from an apparent
physical deformity in his back. Initial investigation revealed that Noah’s back may have been broken at the second and third vertebrae. His case was sent to the veterinary surgeons at Purdue University for review and it was determined that the deformity was not the result of a broken back that had healed improperly, but instead is a congenital anomaly called “Hemi-vertebrae” and that corrective surgery had the potential to do more harm than good. Noah could have been paralyzed after surgery, but instead only suffers from slight nerve damage and is not in any pain whatsoever. Now that he has been thoroughly vetted and
evaluated, Noah is ready to go to his forever home, though he will be greatly missed by his foster family when he leaves! Sweet, playful Noah would do wonderfully well in a home where he could be the playmate to a smaller dog and where he didn’t have to be left alone for more than a few hours a day. Noah loves children, but for his own safety, should not be around those that might not be as gentle with him as he is with them. Noah is a daily reminder that life is what you make it and FFGDR will be honored to place him in a fabulous forever home
– a reward he richly deserves.

What a gorgeous dog! Glad to see he's doing well.
