A Much Needed Home
My boyfriend Nate and I decided that we would like to foster a dog from animal control in Indianapolis. After careful consideration we went to the Indianapolis shelter, we mentioned that we wanted to not just foster but foster the dog who needed a home the most. They brought out a pit bull who’s previous owners had bred, starved, and then dumped. She was so emaciated, she looked like she could drop dead any second. When we saw her, we couldn’t believe our eyes! It was hard to believe that she was still alive, Every bone in her body was protruding through her thin layer of skin. She was full of milk from her last litter, when she was given her temper test, she passed with an A++! I thought that a starving dog would for sure be food aggressive, but that was not the case.
As we finished giving her the temper test, a man came down the hallway and said he was looking for her because it was her time to be put down. But me and Nate were not going to let that happen. We took her home that day and nursed her back to health. She has gained twenty pounds and is perfectly healthy. After having her in our home for a few months, we decided we just couldn’t part with her. It feels so good to know that we saved this wonderful dog’s life that day at the shelter and we know that she is thankful every day to be alive and in a good, loving home. We literally saved her life. And we are so happy to have her because she has turned out to be the best dog ever!
